  4. Contribute to gaps. If a tool you need lacks an MCP server, consider building and open-sourcing one. The community benefits and you get a maintained implementation.

For tool providers

  1. Build an official server. If your tool has meaningful AI use cases, an MCP server is table stakes for AI-native developers.

  2. Prioritise completeness. Servers that implement 80%+ of API capabilities are dramatically more useful than partial implementations.

  3. Document capabilities clearly. LLMs need to understand what tools do. Rich descriptions in tool schemas improve AI decision-making.
